Peschiera del Garda with its hamlet San Benedetto is the westernmost town in Veneto region and close to the provinces of Brescia and Mantua.

Here are located three of the Ancients pile-dwelling settlements in the Alps, which are in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Site from 2011.

Peschiera del Garda is located about 25 kilometers west of Verona. It faces south of Lake Garda in an area sheltered from the wind.

The emissary of lake Garda, river Mincio, exits in Peschiera. The construction of the walled town of Peschiera surrounded by water has modified the natural river course: to enable the defense of the city, in fact, were built three output branches from the lake which then gather south of the town.

It is also the starting point of a cycle track of 43.5 km that passes along the towpaths of the river Mincio, between the towns of Peschiera del Garda and Mantua.

In the territory of Peschiera there is a small lake, called “del Frassino” (which is an ash tree), of glacial origin with an area of about 80 hectares and a maximum depth of 15 meters. It is particularly important from a naturalistic point of view for the variety of animal and plant species which are located on its banks.
